On behalf of the organizing committee, we are glad to announce the Euromarine Summer School “Emerging topics in coastal marine ecosystems - eTOPs” will take place from 4th to 13th July 2023 in Cadiz (Spain).
The Summer School eTOPs aims at interdisciplinary training of PhD students working in coastal marine ecosystems. This Summer School is coordinated by Euromarine Network researchers from Universidad de Cadiz (UCA, Spain), Centro de Ciencias do Mar (CCMAR, Portugal), and Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN, Italy) and will be delivered by 29 professional experts from 14 institutions.
The eTOPs Summer School will cover a broad and interdisciplinary training in a series of emerging topics in the study of coastal marine ecosystems and will include theoretical formation with practical laboratory sessions and field trips. The topics addressed include climate change, i.e. marine heatwaves and ocean acidification, global anthropogenic impacts, i.e. microplastics and emerging pollutants, and biological risks, i.e. invasive species. It will also address climate change mitigation strategies, i.e. blue carbon, technology development, i.e. unmanned vehicles, and management and conservation strategies for marine protected areas.
eTOPs will grant PhD students, mostly from the EuroMarine network. Participants will be certified through the UCA International Doctoral School in Marine Studies EIDEMAR with recognition doctoral training course credits/hours.
