Research Interests
Monitoring megafauna is fundamental to build and understand the marine ecosystem. Marine mammals are infact important top predators of food web. Also monitoring marine litter like parameter of the pollution’s state of the sea is significant to study and doing research in the Mediterranean. Moreover studying the interactions between the distribution of cetaceans and fishery activities is necessary to understand marine ecosystem. The Distribution Models Species (SDM) are able to identify the most suitable areas for the presence of target organisations and the recognition of those where there are conflicts with activities human beings, thus allowing to support the decision-making process aimed at their conservation. The development of risk maps makes it possible to identify areas where species are more or less exposed to disturbances defined as Vulnerable Marine Areas (VMA).
