Research Interests
My research interests focus on different aspects of the biology and ecology of zooplanktonic organisms from both marine and freshwater environments, in particular on copepods and cladocerans. To address this goal, I resort to different tools, building an integrated, multidisciplinary approach including:
- analysis of the swimming behaviour of zooplanktonic organisms recorded in microcosms;
- implementation of Individual Based Models simulating ideal and realistic swimming trajectories described by zooplanktonic organisms;
- evaluation of the ecological significance (from the individual to the community level) of behavioural adaptations.
In addition, my research interests also include the study of the surface circulation and wave motion through high frequency (HF) coastal radars, in situ and remote sensing tools, and numerical models.
