CV

Born in 1958 and graduated from high school in 1976, he has been trained as a technical collaborator to benthic research at the Stazione Zoologica "A. Dohrn" of Naples (SZN) (1983-1988).
He has been employed at the SZN since 1989 and currently holds the position of senior technical collaborator. He is qualified for scientific diving (ESD license).
He has developed laboratory and in-situ experience in research and research assistance in the field of benthic ecology, with particular reference to coastal systems. Professional interests include invertebrate biodiversity and plant-animal interactions in nearshore vegetated ecosystems, taxonomy and ecology of isopod crustaceans and production ecology of selected seagrass and macroalgal species. He is also interested in the study of non-indigenous species introduced to Italian seas. In this latter context, he has coordinated a sub-activity of the national project V.E.C.T.O.R. (2006-2010) and has acted as technical-scientific referent in the framework of a ISPRA-SZN agreement on Marine Strategy (2013-2014).

Activities

Research and research assistance in the field of benthic ecology. Identification of benthic organisms, particularly isopod crustaceans. Sampling design and sample collection of both biotic and abiotic features using specific instrumentation. Underwater observation and experimentation. Collaboration to the structural and functional analysis of benthic communities, also through the use of application software.
Other assignments:
Management of the basic lab instrumentation at the branch center of Ischia. Management of special waste produced at the branch center of Ischia.
