Research interests

Cell biologist by training, my research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms controlling dynamic changes within a cell. Protein expression, modification, and localization in the cell and its architecture are subjected to continuous changes in response to both intrinsic properties of that cell and to external stimuli related to intercellular communication and/or interaction with the environment. The approaches used are: (i) protein expression/modification in vivo, (ii) light and confocal microscopy, (iii) electron microscopy.

Current projects include:

  • Analysis of the formation and germination of resting stages (spores) in diatomes
  • Development of experimental approaches for single-cell organism analysis
  • Analysis of protein stability during embryogenesis
  • In vivo imaging of mesenchymal to epithelial transition
