Research Interests
Microalgae are important organisms both in ecological and biotechnological contexts due to their ability to capture atmospheric COâ‚‚ and produce valuable biomolecules through photosynthesis. These properties make them a promising resource not only for ecosystem studies but also for renewable energy production and high-value industrial products. Currently, my research focuses on lipid metabolism, specifically investigating the role of patatin-like lipolytic acyl hydrolase (LAH) enzymes in Phaeodactylum and Nannochloropsis. My work integrates the generation of mutant strains with phenotypic analyses, such as photosynthetic efficiency and lipidomic profiling. Understanding the metabolic pathways underlying lipid production and nitrogen starvation-induced lipid catabolism is crucial for promoting biotechnological applications in the food industry, as well as potential applications in the energy industry field. I am interested in exploring the potential of microalgae in biotechnology while maintaining a solid theoretical foundation, ensuring that my work contributes to both applied scientific advancements and basic research.
