Research interests
I have always had a strong interest in nature, especially the marine environment. Therefore, after completing my Master's degree in Marine Biology, I focused on the anthropogenic impact on the marine ecosystem and the comparative study of innovative, low-impact fishing methods for the sustainable management of marine biological resources.
I worked in several Marine Protected Areas in Sicily, where I conducted monitoring through visual census of nearshore benthos and scientific diving activities focused on the study of marine phanerogams. During my work experiences in research institutes, I have acquired advanced skills in the study of marine organism nutrition through stomach content analysis. I have participated in various fishing campaigns, dealing with taxonomic recognition, biometrics and incidental capture of elasmobranchs.
