Short CV
I obtained a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of Siena and a master's degree in marine biology from the University of Pisa. I have technical and scientific underwater skills and possess unlimited motor and sailboat licenses. I have worked and collaborated with various marine biology institutes. I started working at SZN in 2022 with "Support for research both in the laboratory and in the field as part of monitoring campaigns, aimed at verifying the absence of dangers to waters and aquatic ecosystems resulting from offshore activities, with activities such as sampling of the water column, sediment, and biota" and I am currently focused on the "Development of protocols and technologies related to research activities in deep marine environments.
Tasks
My duties involve both the use of oceanographic instruments and software for data acquisition and processing. As for scientific research, my main areas of interest include: nocturnal light pollution in coastal marine environments, the ecological and physiological role of bioluminescence in marine organisms, and the study of deep marine environments with particular emphasis on scientific exploration and the protection of biodiversity threatened by anthropogenic disturbances.
