Curriculum Vitae

Research Interests

Unicellular eukaryotes are at the base of marine food webs and play a crucial role in marine biogeochemical cycles both as primary producers and as primary consumers. Most of the marine primary production originates from unicellular photosynthetic organisms and big part of the daily primary production in the water column is consumed by micro-sized predators. Thus, they have a central role in sustaining important ecosystem services such as climate regulation and fishery. My research interest is centred on micro-plankton eco-physiology and trophodynamics. My current studies are based in the field, on natural populations. By using stable isotopes of nitrogen and carbon as tracers, I am interested in describing flows of energy and matter in marine ecosystems.
