Research Interests
The central-southern Tyrrhenian Sea produces the highest catches of small pelagic and demersal fish in the Tyrrhenian Sea and is rich and abundant in ichthioplankton in correspondence with two submarine canyons: Dohrn located in the Gulf of Naples, and Cuma located at the southern end of the Gulf of Gaeta. My research aims to characterize ichthioplankton in correspondence with the two submarine canyons in the central-southern Tyrrhenian Sea, simulate dispersal trajectories of dominant pelagic fish eggs and larvae (eg Engraulis encrasicolus, Merluccius merluccius) and assess habitat and population connectivity between spawning and settlement sites and among different oceanographic regions.
