Research Interests
The love for the sea, the degree in biology, the free profession, a few years of collaboration at the University of Genoa and the Marine Protected Area (AMP) of Portofino and 12 years of management of the AMP Isola di Bergeggi (SV, Italy), have allowed me to develop a true passion for an interdisciplinary approach to research.
For many years my research interests have been focused on the:
- assessment of marine biodiversity, with particular attention to fish fauna and macrozoobenthos;
- evaluation of the effectiveness of Marine Protected Areas (sensu lato) and their networks, essential tools for the conservation and the environmentally sustainable development of coastal areas;
- support for the sustainable management of both small scale fisheries (SSF) and recreational/sport fishing activities;
- support for the management of fishing supply chains to promote a more sustainable consumption of fish species.
