Research Interests
Environmental DNA (eDNA) is the genomic DNA deriving from many different organisms that can be found in environmental samples of water, soil or air. eDNA is becoming a valuable tool in many fields or research, including marine biodiversity assessment studies. In this case, the coupling of eDNA analysis from water samples and other traditional non-invasive sampling techniques (e.g. visual, acoustic), have led to more comprehensive monitoring approaches. My research interests focus on the application of molecular techniques to the field of marine ecology and conservation. In particular, my PhD project will focus on the integration of eDNA and multidisciplinary data on local biodiversity deriving from marine seafloor cabled observatories.
