Research Interests
My research activities are on fisheries management and sustainable use of fishery resources, with a focus on small-scale fisheries. I have expertise in involving fishery stakeholders, particularly fishers, in the process of developing co-management systems to facilitate sustainable exploitation of fishery resources. I have expertise in surveying and collecting biological, socio-economic, catch and effort data on fisheries both on board and at landing points and also on national and EU fisheries legislation.
My other research interests include age and growth estimation in fishes using otolith analysis, particularly in mesopelagic and bathypelagic fish species, and taxonomy of cephalopods and Mediterranean fishes. Lately, I have also been focusing on studying the impact of marine litter in marine organisms, including elasmobranchs and cephalopod species.
