Research expertise

The passion for the marine environment has led me to dedicate my professional life to the sea and with the sea.
I started my professional career in 2002, with the Italian Coast Guard (safety, security and technical department). In 2006 I have been appointed as member of the consultative commission of the Port Authority of Messina.
Since 2006 for several years, I held the position of Shipping, Port and Technical Manager, also collaborating on international and EU research projects with universities, public bodies, and research institutes.
I got the qualification of Specialist in the field of oil spills where I held the position of member of the board of directors and development and research manager (2016).
I spent my working life dealing in maritime and marine matter fields, I’m Maritime Expert since 2007, Judiciary Consultant (marine accidents) from 2008 and EMSA external expert (marine litter, marine accident, pollution response, fishing safety) since 2022.
Today I’m involved in a variety of research projects in the fields of Fishing Sustainability, Iuuf, blue economy, marine transport, offshore wind farm, Marine Litter, and Maritime Pollution critical issues.
