Interessi di Ricerca

I miei interessi di ricerca riguardano principalmente le biotecnologie marine, la genomica funzionale e l’ecologia del plancton. La mia attività di ricerca si concentra soprattutto sull’utilizzo degli organismi marini per la scoperta di composti con possibili applicazioni per il trattamento di patologie umane e analisi trascrittomiche al fine di studiare gli enzimi coinvolti nella sintesi di tali composti e/o altri enzimi con potenziali applicazioni biotecnologiche (ad es. per prodotti farmaceutici e bioremediation). I miei interessi si concentrano soprattutto su organismi marini, principalmente microalghe, con attività antiossidante, anti-infiammatoria, antitumorale e anti-diabete. Inoltre, sono interessata allo studio delle risposte fisiologiche e molecolari degli organismi marini a fattori di stress biotici e abiotici (ad esempio acidificazione dell'oceano, variazioni di temperatura e concentrazione di nutrienti, ed esposizione a metaboliti secondari tossici microalgali).
