Research Interests |
My research interests, as a Marine and Coastal Biologist and Ecologist, are related to four main matters. The first one is related to climate change. In particular, how the marine fauna and flora are adapting to survive. Molecular and ecological research approaches are applied to investigate the population evolution. The second interest of research concerns the marine litter which is affecting the coastal and marine environment. Along monitoring and collecting activities for quantifying the marine debris present in hotspots areas, an eco-toxicological approach is it used to investigate the effect on marine fauna. The third one concerns the development of marine spatial planning (MSP) for regions whit high inshore and offshore activities. A holistic approach of different disciplines can lead to a sustainable management of the coastal and marine resources. The last research interest is related to the exploration of the deep Mediterranean Sea and of the unknown species. An ecological, taxonomical and behavioral approach is used to describe novelties. |
