Research Interests
I’m interested in characterizing the microbial communities that can be found in living and dead jellyfish and what is their contribution to the nitrogen and carbon cycling in the sea. This role is of particular interest considering that jellyfish populations can abruptly increase and die en masse, providing a pulse of dissolved nutrients to the water column as they fall and a source of biomass to the sediments.
