Research Interest
My research interest lies in bioremediation of polluted marine sites, especially in Bagnoli-Coroglio. During my PhD project I will try to shed light on the biodiversity and metabolic functions of microbial assemblages inhabiting polluted marine ecosystems, if there are specific microbial taxa characterized by high capability for the degradation of organic pollutants and resistant to metal contaminations. Finally I would like to investigate how the main environmental factors along with the presence of contaminants influence bioremediation and detoxification capabilities of microbes.
I am also involved in drug discovery from marine micro and macro organisms, in order to detect new molecules with possible anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antiaging applications.
